Doctors are being taken into five forces at once. The Central Armed Police Forces Medical Officer Selection Board has 282 Group 'A' vacancies across BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB and Assam Rifles, and the lowest rung asks for nothing beyond MBBS and a finished internship. The name confuses people, so start there. ITBP's Directorate General runs the board and hosts the portal, which is why every listing site files this under ITBP. The vacancies themselves are spread across all five forces, and ITBP holds fewer of the specialist seats than either CRPF or BSF. Candidates rank all five in order of preference and cannot revise that ranking afterwards. There is no written paper anywhere in this process. A 200-mark interview decides the merit list outright, and everything after it - physical standards, medical examination - is pass or fail rather than scored. A doctor still completing the compulsory rotating internship is allowed to apply and to sit that interview. Worth flagging locally: minimum height is reduced by 2 cm for applicants from the Kashmir region of Jammu & Kashmir and from Ladakh, and for Dogras among several other communities.

THE BREAKDOWN Specialist Medical Officer, ranked Deputy Commandant - 162 vacancies - CRPF 86, BSF 46, SSB 17, ITBP 8, Assam Rifles 5. Medical Officer, ranked Assistant Commandant - 115 vacancies - BSF 47, ITBP 37, SSB 18, Assam Rifles 8, CRPF 5, with a tenth of them held for Ex-Servicemen. Super Specialist Medical Officer, ranked Second-in-Command - 5 vacancies, all within ITBP - Neurology, Neurosurgery, Gastroenterology, Cardiology and Nephrology, one apiece. SPECIALIST SEATS BY FIELD Radiology carries the most at 38, then Medicine 34, Surgery 31, Ophthalmology 21, Gynaecology and Obstetrics 16, Anaesthesia 15 and Pathology 7. Paediatrics and Psychiatry are printed in the table against zeroes. Neither field has a single seat this cycle, whatever a summary elsewhere implies. WHAT EACH GRADE DEMANDS For Medical Officer: an allopathic qualification recognised under the Indian Medical Council Act 1956, permanent registration with MCI, NMC or a State Medical Council before appointment, and a completed compulsory rotating internship. Those mid-internship may apply and attend the interview so long as it concludes before appointment. For Specialist Medical Officer: all of the above together with a post-graduate Degree or Diploma in the relevant speciality, backed by eighteen months of experience in it following a PG Degree, or thirty months following a PG Diploma. For Super Specialist Medical Officer: MBBS, enrolment on a State Medical Register, completed internship, a PG Degree or Diploma in the related speciality, and a DM or M.Ch carrying three years of super-speciality experience after the first post-graduate degree. Time spent in senior residency counts. AGE CEILINGS ON 8 SEPTEMBER 2026 Thirty for Medical Officer, forty for Specialist, fifty for Super Specialist. Add five years for SC and ST, three for OBC-NCL, five for civilian central government servants and five for released Army Medical Corps Short Service Commissioned Officers - the latter two rising to ten years where the candidate is SC or ST and eight where OBC. BODILY STANDARDS Men must stand 157.5 cm with chest measurements of 77 cm and 82 cm expanded; women 142 cm with no chest requirement. Two centimetres come off the height for candidates of the Kashmir region of J&K and of Ladakh, for Dogras, Gorkhas, Garhwalis, Kumaonis and Marathas, and for those from Himachal Pradesh and eight north-eastern states; three centimetres for Scheduled Tribes. Claiming it requires a certificate. Weight is judged proportionate to height and age. MEDICAL BAR Corrected near vision of N6 and N9, distant vision 6/6 or 6/9 in the better eye against 6/12 or 6/9 in the weaker. Hypermetropia is capped at +3.50 DS and myopia at -4.5 DS. Colour perception below CP-III on Ishihara testing ends the candidature. Refraction surgery such as radial keratotomy is barred, while Lasik is accepted on stated conditions. Knock-knees, flat foot and squint each disqualify, and a tattoo clause governs placement and size. A candidate ruled unfit may request review by consenting in writing within a day. THE PROCESS Documents first, then an interview worth 200 marks where 80 is the pass mark for every category alike. Failing it removes you. Physical standards are checked that day or the next, the medical board follows, and the merit list rests on interview marks alone, drawn up separately for SC and ST, OBC-NCL and EWS candidates. BEFORE YOU COMMIT Private practice of every kind, consultancy and laboratory work included, is forbidden. A PG entrance may be sat only after five years of regular service. Anyone who has contracted a bigamous marriage is ineligible. Interview travel is reimbursed only past the first 250 km each way, only for candidates outside government service, and an unemployment certificate from an MP, MLA or Gazetted Officer may be demanded.
Advertisement of the CAPF Medical Officer Selection Board 2025, issued by the Directorate General, ITBP, under the Ministry of Home Affairs and signed by the DIG (Recruitment) on 21 July 2026. Applications opened 10 August 2026 at 00:01 and shut at 23:59 on 8 September 2026, the date against which age is measured. Only the online route at recruitment.itbpolice.nic.in is accepted; anything sent offline is rejected outright, and a fee routed outside the site's gateway is refused with the payment forfeited. Rs 400 is charged, but only to men in the General, OBC and EWS categories. SC and ST candidates, Ex-Servicemen and every woman applicant are exempt. The profile requires a legible photograph, a scanned signature, your MBBS or equivalent certificate, any specialist qualification, and registration with MCI, NMC or a State Medical Council. Candidates for Medical Officer and Specialist Medical Officer must order all five forces by preference; the order is irreversible once filed. Super Specialist vacancies lie in ITBP alone. At interview produce originals with one self-attested copy each: matriculation certificate as age proof, qualification documents, proof of internship, council registration and any category certificate. OBC-NCL certificates must reflect income across 2025-26, 2024-25 and 2023-24, EWS certificates must cover 2024-25 valid for 2025-26, and both must predate 8 September 2026. Government employees require a No Objection Certificate. West Pakistani Refugees settled in J&K should carry the Annexure-VIII certificate from their Sarpanch, Numberdar or Naib Tehsildar together with an electoral roll extract bearing their name. Admit cards reach candidates through the registered email alone, sometimes at short notice, so plan on staying more than a day at the centre. No helpline or recruitment address is printed - the Selection Committee corresponds only about a change of address, and updates appear solely on recruitment.itbpolice.nic.in.
