That Hindi typing alternative is worth repeating, because much of the coverage omits it and quotes the English figure alone, wrongly excluding candidates who qualify. THE PAPER Two hours, one hundred marks, one hundred objective questions divided equally between General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Numerical Aptitude and English Language. A quarter mark is deducted for each incorrect answer. Guessing four questions wrongly erases a question answered correctly, so the arithmetic of attempting is worth thinking through in advance. WHAT THE SYLLABUS COVERS Reasoning runs to analogy, coding and decoding, series, blood relations, direction sense, classification, Venn diagrams, non-verbal series and shuffle tests. General Awareness spans Indian history, geography, polity, economy, general science, current affairs, national and international events and defence news. Numerical Aptitude covers the number system, simplification, percentages, profit and loss, ratio and proportion, time and work, time and distance and data interpretation. English covers grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, comprehension and error spotting. PHYSICAL TEST WHERE IT APPLIES A 1.6 kilometre run inside 6 minutes 30 seconds, a minimum of six pull-ups on the beam, a nine-foot ditch and a zig-zag balance, the last two judged simply as pass or fail. The advertisement qualifies this with the words wherever applicable, so confirm against the post you intend to apply for once the detailed notification appears. ORDER OF SELECTION The written examination comes first, then the physical test where required, then the typing test for Junior Office Assistant candidates alone, then document verification, and a medical examination last. CONDITIONS Every eligibility condition is judged as it stands on the closing date.
