Bank of Baroda is recruiting 2,482 Local Bank Officers in JMG/S-I across 20 states, under advertisement BOB/HRM/REC/ADVT/2026/16 dated 18 August 2026. This is a lateral-entry advertisement, not an entry-level one. Beyond a graduate degree in any discipline, it requires at least one year of post-qualification experience as an officer in a Scheduled Commercial Bank listed in the RBI's Second Schedule. Clerical-cadre service is explicitly excluded, and the Bank reserves the right to reject an application at any stage if the experience certificate's job profile does not substantially match that of a Bank of Baroda Scale-I officer. The vacancy is state-tied in both directions. You apply against one state only, the merit list is drawn state-wise and category-wise, and the local language of that state must be one you can read, write, speak and understand - tested through a Local Language Proficiency Test unless your 10th or 12th marksheet shows you studied it as a subject. In return, selected candidates are posted within that state for the first 12 years of service, or until promotion to SMGS-IV, whichever is earlier. The largest allocations are Gujarat with 1,185 posts, Karnataka 418, Maharashtra 218 and Odisha 100. Jammu & Kashmir carries 15, Punjab 34, Kerala 49, Tamil Nadu 132 and West Bengal 42. Nearly half the total - 1,178 of the 2,482, including 785 of Gujarat's share - are unfilled vacancies carried forward from earlier Local Bank Officer exercises. All 15 of the Jammu & Kashmir posts, by contrast, are new. Pay is the JMG/S-I scale of Rs 48,480 to Rs 85,920 under the industry-level bipartite settlement, with one advance increment granted for the officer experience the post requires. Probation runs 12 months. A three-year service bond applies, discharged by paying three months' gross salary capped at Rs 2 lakh if you leave earlier. Selection is a 120-mark online test over 120 minutes in four separately timed sections of 30 questions - English Language, which is qualifying only and does not count towards merit, Banking Knowledge, General and Economic Awareness, and Reasoning with Quantitative Aptitude. Wrong answers cost 0.25 marks. The Bank may add a psychometric test, and a group discussion and personal interview follow. Age is 21 to 30 as on 1 August 2026, with the usual relaxations; there is no ex-servicemen reservation in the officers' cadre. The fee is Rs 850 for General, EWS and OBC candidates and Rs 175 for SC, ST, PwBD, ex-servicemen and women. Applications close on 7 September 2026.

WHO CAN APPLY Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University or Institution, plus a minimum of one year of post-qualification experience as an OFFICER in a Scheduled Commercial Bank listed in the Second Schedule of the Reserve Bank of India. Clerical-cadre service is not counted. Experience of under six months anywhere is disregarded unless it is your current employment. You must submit an experience certificate with a job profile from your employer, and if that profile does not substantially match a Bank of Baroda Scale-I officer's, the application is rejected at any stage. Four certifications are named as preferred, not mandatory: IC 38 of the Insurance Institute of India, NISM Series V-A (Mutual Fund Distributors), NISM Series XXI-A (Portfolio Management Services Distributors) and NISM Series XIII (Common Derivatives). LANGUAGE For the Jammu & Kashmir vacancies the local languages are URDU, KASHMIRI or DOGRI, and proficiency means reading, writing, speaking and understanding. Shortlisted candidates sit a Local Language Proficiency Test, and failing it stops you before the interview. You are exempt from that test if your 10th or 12th marksheet shows the language as a subject you studied - keep that certificate ready. AGE, as on 01.08.2026 21 to 30 years. Anyone who resigned from an officer-grade post at the Bank, or exited while on contract, within the last three years of the cut-off date. PAY AND TERMS JMG/S-I scale: Rs 48,480 rising to Rs 85,920, with allowances and benefits under the industry-level bipartite settlement. ONE ADVANCE INCREMENT is granted for the one year or more of officer experience you are required to have. Probation is 12 months of active service. There is a service bond. You must serve three years, or pay the Bank three months' gross salary, capped at Rs 2 lakh, if you leave earlier. SELECTION An online test of 120 questions and 120 marks over 120 minutes, in four separately timed sections of 30 questions each: English Language (qualifying only - its marks do not enter the merit list), Banking Knowledge, General and Economic Awareness, and Reasoning Ability with Quantitative Aptitude. All sections except English are bilingual. There is a 0.25-mark penalty for every wrong answer; blanks are not penalised. The online test is followed by the Language Proficiency Test, then a Group Discussion and/or Personal Interview, and the Bank may add a psychometric test. Where two candidates tie at the cut-off, the older is ranked higher. Merit lists are drawn state-wise and category-wise.
